Fishery Rules

Our rules exist to safeguard our fish stocks and wildlife and also to ensure that you have an enjoyable visit to Eden Springs. Please read carefully before you fish, as failure to observe the rules or acting in any way, which interferes with others’ enjoyment or use of the lochs, will result in the offender being immediately removed and banned from the park.

Edensmuir Loch

1. Permit must be purchased before fishing.

2. There is no access to Eden Springs before the arrival of the ranger – please refer to the opening times.

3. Fly Fishing Only

4. No persons under 16 years of age allowed in boats unless accompanied by an adult

5. A maximum of 3 persons are permitted per boat.

6. Boats must not be taken without prior permission or payment for all occupants.

7. Life aids are recommended and all children under 16 must wear one.

8. No alcohol or illegal substances to be consumed or brought onto the park.

9. No Anchoring within 5 meters of the bank.

10. Mooring on Islands is strictly prohibited.

11. No fishing within exclusion zones.

12. No Trolling Permitted.

13. Boat seats must be strapped and secure.

14. Before use – disinfect engine in tank provided.

15. Use only Barbless hooks – barbed hooks are strictly banned.

16. All Brown Trout and Perch to be returned.

17. Use only nets provided by fishery.

18. Always keep fish in water whilst catch and release.

19. All fish taken must be weighed.

20. Anyone found killing fish and/or removing fish will be prosecuted.

21. Report any loss of oars, paddles or breakages to the ranger.

22. Please ensure that the boat is left clean and tidy and discard all disused nylon.

23. All anglers must fill in a catch and return report before departing.

24. Any fish taken must be weighed.

25. All Fish with a weight exceeding 6 lb must be returned. This rule applies on all permits.

25. Do not disturb wildlife. Please advise ranger as soon as possible should any wildlife become hurt or injured, hooked or entangled with line, or if line becomes snagged on trees or bushes or on any underwater snag during your visit in order that this can be immediately removed.

Bull Stone & Little Eden 

1. Permit must be purchased before fishing.

2. There is no access to Eden Springs before the arrival of the ranger – please refer to the opening times.

7. Use only Barbless or debarbed hooks – barbed hooks are strictly banned.

8. All Brown Trout and Perch to be returned.

9. Always keep fish in water whilst catch and release.

10. All fish taken must be weighed.

11. Anyone found killing fish and/or removing fish will be prosecuted.
